9th National Monsoon Forum

Maldives Meteorological Service, in association with Climate Change Department conducted its 9th National Monsoon Forum on 17 April 2025 in Addu City Gan with the supported from UNEP and GCF. The main objectives of the Monsoon Forum is to review the 2024 SW monsoon and 2025 NE Monsoon Season , to receive experience-based recommendations for enhancing end-to-end forecast generation and application system, to present the seasonal outlook for the 2025 NE Monsoon Season as well as the updates in the current climate conditions, to discuss potential impacts and risks as well as matrices for impact-based forecasting to inform planning, decision-making, and the inception of preparedness strategies by relevant sectors through the integration of information of various timescales, prioritize recommendations to address residual gaps in forecast generation and application. 

Regional Multi-Hazard Early Warning System for Asia and Africa ( RIMES), National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) participated as technical partners. A total of 52 participants including Addu City and Fuvahmulah based government offices, CSO’s, NGO’s and individuals representing various user communities also participated in this forum.
